Speed
Fast because there is nothing in the way
Google measures how quickly the main content shows, how soon the page responds to a tap, and whether things jump around while loading. A plain page does well on all three without any tuning, because the work that slows other sites down never happens.
What PageSpeed Insights actually rewards
Three things decide most of the score. Largest Contentful Paint is how long the biggest visible element takes to appear. Interaction to Next Paint is how fast the page reacts when someone taps. Cumulative Layout Shift is how much the layout moves while loading. Behind them all sits the time to first byte: how long the server takes to start sending the page.
A CMS page spends that first stretch querying a database, running a theme and loading plugins. Then the browser downloads their scripts before it can draw the content. A hand-built page skips all of it. The server sends a file, the browser draws it.
Where a hand-built page starts
- The HTML is small. The demo home page in cmsspot is under 2 KB. This page, with its layout and navigation, is well under 20 KB.
- One stylesheet. cmsspot.com itself uses a single CSS file of about 35 KB, and most client sites use less.
- No script unless you add one. The only script on this page toggles the mobile menu.
- No render-blocking plugin bundle. The content is in the HTML, so the largest element paints as soon as the file arrives.
- Images are the only heavy thing left, and you control them: size them for the layout, use WebP, and lazy-load the ones below the fold.
What cmsspot adds to your pages
Nothing. cmsspot is not installed on the site and does not run when a visitor loads a page. It edits the files over SFTP and writes back only the fields that changed. The page a visitor gets is the page you wrote, byte for byte, with the new text in it.
Test it yourself
Run this page through PageSpeed Insights, then run a site built on a builder or a CMS you know. The difference is usually largest on mobile, where the extra scripts hurt most.
Then run your own hand-built site. If it scores lower than you expect, it is almost always the images. Resize them, convert them to WebP, and add loading="lazy" below the fold. The rest of the page is already as light as it can be.
Why it stays fast
CMS sites slow down over time as plugins accumulate and the database grows. A hand-built site has nothing that accumulates. The page you measured on launch day is the page you will measure in three years.
